In the last issue, we have already said that playing with Bodhi is one of the ways to maintain health, but do you know what other ways to maintain health are besides playing with Bodhi?
In the wisdom of Tai Chi Bagua, the key points of health preservation are rich and exquisite.
According to legend, in ancient times, the world was in chaos and yin and yang were not distinguished. Fuxi looked up at the sky and looked down at the geography, and finally drew the Tai Chi diagram. The yin and yang fish in this Tai Chi diagram are interdependent and transformed, containing the law of change of all things in the universe.

From the perspective of yin and yang balance, sleep is an important part of health preservation. Night is yin, suitable for quiet sleep and recovery of energy; daytime is yang, energetic activities. Ensure sufficient and regular sleep, like the natural rhythm of yin and yang alternation, so that the body's functions can be effectively adjusted. For example, follow the law of midnight and noon nap, that is, take a proper rest at midnight (23:00 to 1:00) and noon (11:00 to 13:00).
In terms of diet, according to the concept of Tai Chi Bagua, the harmony of the five flavors is crucial. The five flavors of sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, and salty correspond to different internal organs and yin and yang attributes. For example, sour taste enters the liver, and eating sour food in moderation can nourish the liver, but excessive consumption may damage the spleen and stomach. For another example, spicy food is yang and has a dispersing effect, but eating too much can easily cause internal heat.
Exercise and health preservation are also key. Just like the endless changes in Bagua, there are many ways to exercise, but they must follow the principle of moderation. Aerobic exercises such as jogging and aerobics can enhance cardiopulmonary function and belong to yang; while static exercises such as yoga and Pilates help stretch the meridians and regulate the breath, which belong to yin. Only by combining yin and yang can the best exercise effect be achieved.
Psychological adjustment should not be ignored either. Keep a calm mind, just like the harmonious coexistence of yin and yang in the Tai Chi diagram. In the face of pressure and setbacks, do not be arrogant or impatient, and do not be discouraged or give up. For example, through art forms such as calligraphy and painting, cultivate temperament and relieve inner tension and anxiety.
In addition, keeping in good health in accordance with the changes of the four seasons is also an important revelation of Tai Chi Bagua. Spring brings life, summer brings growth, autumn brings harvest, and winter brings storage. Each season has its own characteristics and health-preserving priorities. In spring, we nourish the liver and go out more often; in summer, we nourish the heart and pay attention to preventing heatstroke and cooling down; in autumn, we nourish the lungs and nourish yin and moisten dryness; in winter, we nourish the kidneys and prevent cold and keep warm.
